Avelar has recently started to develop solar parks in Italy. The company’s goal is to build and operate no less than 300MW of solar plants in the next five years.

In July 2008, Avelar entered into a commercial agreement with Kerself S.p.A. in which Kerself will provide Avelar no less than 105MW of PV installations within 3 years. Avelar indirectly controls 15% of Kerself and Avelar will support Kerself in identifying long-term supply of silicon, with a particular focus on the polysilicon project of Renova Group in Russia.
